After my mother fell and broke her arm, she ended up in the hospital. Medicare covered five days in the hospital and three weeks of rehab. Then the insurance troubles began.
Can Trump Be Indicted? He Certainly Has Enough Free Time to Deal with Legal Procedings
Aside from the assumption that there is a US citizen who is above the law, the Justice Department policy that says that a sitting president cannot be indicted fails on its initial logic. According to legal theorist, the President of the United States is way too busy to deal with all the hassles of facing criminal charges while he is in office. The problem is, modern presidents have a lot of free time. Donald Trump has plenty of time for his ridiculous rallies. Like his predecessors, he watches sports. He golfs one out of every three days. He’s always on Twitter. Let’s face it: being too busy just isn’t a good excuse.
Who Will Protect the Troops We Send to Protect the Other Troops?
It’s true and totally hilarious: the Trump Administration wants to send additional troops to the Middle East in order to protect the troops who are already in the Middle East. In a culture of militarism it never occurs to anybody that maybe you could just bring all the troops home and then they’d all be safe.
Little Did She Know
My 84-year-old mother, brilliant and beautiful and strange, has been suffering from Alzheimer’s. I tried to keep her in her house as long as possible. Research shows that familiar surroundings make a big difference. Unfortunately, she kept getting into car accidents and burning things on the stove. But I hired visiting nurses to take care of her. In the end, it came down to a fall. I warned her to be careful because senior citizens often spiral toward death after a fall. Maybe she couldn’t be. One night earlier this year, she got up to go to the bathroom and fell. Little did she know it would change her life forever.
Hey Democrats, Here’s What a Purity Test for Candidates Looks Like (and Doesn’t)
Corporate Democrats often accuse progressives of being too idealistic, of subjecting potential candidates to a so-called purity test. Most recently that argument has extended to former vice president Joe Biden. His supporters say that he is the best possible candidate to defeat Donald Trump. That’s debatable to say the least. What’s not debatable is that refusing to support a man who voted to invade Iraq is hardly subjecting him to a purity test. Over 1 million people died there for no reason whatsoever. Anyone who had anything to do with it, especially someone who voted to authorize force there, has blood on their hands.
You Might Be Suffering From Trump Derangement Syndrome If…
“Trump Derangement Syndrome” is when you have so much anger and rage at President Trump that you are willing to do anything, no matter how stupid or reckless or dangerous, to try to get him out of office by hook or by crook. Lately I’ve been hearing Democrats say that they’re hoping that the economy head south, as if they didn’t live in the economy themselves. Others want him to attack Iran so that people angry at the war don’t vote for him for reelection. This is crazy talk.
