Justice Anthony Kennedy has announced his retirement. Now, we’re being told, Democrats are about to wage a big battle to prevent a right-winger who might overturn Roe v. Wade from replacing him. In reality, of course, there’s nothing Democrats can do but posture. Trump will get his pick. Democrats will suck up to moderate Republicans, who will vote for Trump’s person no matter what. Why bother with this time-wasting charade?

After weeks of controversy over a policy of separating children at the US-Mexico border from their parents, and then losing them in the foster care system, the Trump Administration won a Supreme Court victory when the high court ruled along 5-4 partisan lines to approve the president’s ban on travel to the US by people from some Muslim nations.
Many of the refugees streaming across the US border with Mexico are from Central American nations like Honduras, one of many nations whose democratically elected leaders were overthrown by the American Central Intelligence Agency. This is classic blowback. In this case, a Democrat was responsible so many liberals looked the other way.

Odds are, it would not have been much different. Her ideological history and militant centrism suggests as much.

Yet we keep doing these horrible things over and over again. So it isn’t really true. These horrible acts are exactly who we are.

Democratic-leaning news outlets like MSNBC went crazy, asking what kind of person would look down on a porn star? The answer, of course, is most people, including liberals. But hey, this is a positive move even if it’s completely motivated by hypocritical partisanship against President Trump. Anything that results in less Puritanism and less slut-shaming is more than welcome.
A narrow majority of the United States Supreme Court has approved Ohio’s controversial Republican-backed “use it or lose it” voter-purging law. If you miss two elections, even minor ones, you will be purged from voter registration rolls unless you respond to a postcard mailed to you by the state. However, the postcards are made to look like junk mail so two out of three Ohio voters who receive them throw them away. It’s a brazen attempt to disenfranchise liberal-leaning voters since they are more likely to miss elections. But let’s look at the bright side: this could be used for all sorts of other shenanigans, and not just in the voting booth.
