According to the Centers for Disease Control, the daily death toll from COVID-19 is likely to exceed the total from the September 11 terrorist attacks for the next 2 to 3 months. Good thing we’re not responding to the coronavirus the same way that we responded to 9/11.
President Donald Trump has ordered the evacuation of all but 800 United States troops from occupied Afghanistan, which the United States invaded 19 years ago. As usual, the media is repeating shibboleths about how the Afghans will feel “abandoned” by the US departure.
Joe Biden and the Democrats keep bragging that their new cabinet choices are exceptionally diverse and reflect the country and its demographics. But they’re leaving one thing out: ideological diversity. They are all exactly the same politically, without a single progressive in the room.

As if the coronavirus crisis hasn’t been discombobulating enough, information on the exciting new vaccines is mixed and sometimes worrisome. Although most indications are that the vaccines are both safe and effective, the program has been rushed. Some test subjects report that they had COVID-19-like symptoms. On the other hand, it’s hard not to be jealous of Europe, where they have already begun distributing the vaccine to the public. But maybe it doesn’t matter because the US government decision not to buy 100 million doses from Pfizer has contributed to the fact that we won’t be able to get the actual vaccine until next year anyway. All so confusing…
