Miraculous Architecture

An intact Bible has been recovered from the charred rubble of a building explosion in New York. Some are calling it a miracle. This kind of thing also happens when religious icons survive tornadoes. Isn’t it time that we began using the science of religious icon preservation to save human lives?

A New Home for the Tinfoil Hat

The Snowden revelations about the NSA have switched things up: Now, if you DON’T think the government is spying on you, you’re crazy.

Intolerable

The United States government is lecturing Russia about the invasion and annexation of Crimea, formerly part of Ukraine. But whatever moral standing the U.S. has is undermined, not only by its recent invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, but by the tale of its own territorial expansion, beginning with the dispossession and genocide of the Native Americans.

Inflammatory Topics

In the terrorism trial of Osama bin Laden’s brother-in-law, government prosecutors asked the judge to ban “inflammatory subjects” such as Guantanamo, secret prisons, drones and the NSA.

American Exceptionally Dumbism

Americans don’t believe the truth unless it’s proven to them beyond a shadow of a doubt over and over, and then with more evidence than anyone should need.

Advertise Your Bigotry

Businesses that discriminate against, for example, gays and lesbians, should be legally required to post that information publicly so that LGBT don’t waste time driving around and waiting in line before being turned away.

Flash War

Heavily-armed men who took over Crimea last week refused to say who they were, so foreign media outlets dutifully refused to accuse Russia of invading Ukraine until after it had happened. Imagine how much better the invasion of Iraq would have gone if nobody had been able to blame the United States for it?

Sovereignty

President Obama has warned Russia that invading a sovereign nation is a violation of international law that will not be tolerated. He has announced various economic and other sanctions. Clearly the United States would never have anything to do with anything like that.

Settled Science

Does the Earth go around the sun, or does the sun go around the Earth? When asked that question in a poll, 1 in 4 Americans surveyed answered that the sun revolves around the earth. But hey, we have to respect their feelings too.
