TMI Show Ep 52: “Food Fight! RFK’s MAHA vs. Fat-Fluencers”

Americans have always had a love-hate relationship with food. We eat too much of it, and not the best kind; as high as 75% of Americans are considered obese. Yet our popular culture lionizes models and actors so painfully thin many of them suffer from anorexia. The latest attempt by the body-positivity movement to fight fat-shaming comes in the form of online “fat-fluencers,” one of whom has been hired by San Francisco as its weight stigma czar. Meanwhile, HHS nominee RFK Jr. is going after Big Food on the grounds that they’re inhibiting his drive to Make America Healthy Again.

Co-hosts Ted Rall and Manila Chan investigate these latest developments in our national Food Fight.

TMI Show Co-hosts Ted Rall and Manila Chan delve into an almost-familiar acronym: MAHA, which stands for “Make America Healthy Again.” An improbable alliance between former President Donald Trump and Democratic scion Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has culminated with their shared MAHA agenda, which calls for reforming federal regulations on food and pharmaceuticals, switching up farm subsidies, and purging public health agencies.

The still-developing MAHA plan taps into longstanding frustrations with the U.S. healthcare system and issues — such as ultra-processed food, the spread chronic disease and declining U.S. life expectancy — that Democrats rarely talk about—not to mention Trump, whose dietary preferences infamously trend toward fast food. Ted and Manila interview Dr. John Dombrowski, CEO of the Washington Pain Center and a practicing physician, about MAHA. What is it? Is it real and serious? What should we expect from a second Trump Administration, and why haven’t Democrats addressed the issue?

In the headlines: The White House memory-holes Biden’s latest big gaffe. Halloween by the Numbers. And Much More!

Some Sanctions against Russia Are a Blessing in Disguise

Companies that produce disgusting crap like Coke, Pepsi, McDonald’s, KFC, etc., are boycotting Russia and shutting down operations there. This will no doubt improve the health of the average Russian. At the same time, disgusting tech companies like Facebook and Apple are pulling out as well, freeing the Russian people from the shackles of stupid social media and other toxic forms of communication.

Survival of the Fittest

No animal would choose not to do what it needs to survive. No animal is that stupid, except human beings. The failed COP26 climate conference provides more proof that we’re too stupid or lazy to stop killing the planet’s environment we need to live by transitioning to sustainable energy sources.

Dying to Get Thin

In 2007, Ohio executioners repeatedly stabbed condemned inmate Christopher Newton to try to insert IVs so they could inject the poison. The prison blamed his weight: 265 lbs. Now an even heavier man faces the same ordeal.
