A Pentagon program to militarize local police departments is even giving heavy weaponry to local officials that don’t have any law enforcement functions, including a coroner in the remote Ozark mountains of Arkansas.

We have to clear inventory to build more stuff using American taxpayer money…jobs are at stake…corporate profits are at stake….we can’t stop building shit, or they might cut pentagon funding!!!
Hmmm, are they giving automatic weapons to postal workers? What could possibly go wrong…?
Not sure what could go wrong in the event of automatic weapons being given to postal workers, CrazyH, but it does sound like an advance on giving them to cops…. 😉
Henri
y’know – it is possible that my reference is dated as well as being obscure to folks who don’t live in the US of A.
So, at the risk of being even more of a pedantic prig than usual:
Several years ago, there was a spate of postal workers going berserk and killing their co-workers. It gave rise to the term, “Going Postal” – meaning to suddenly become extremely and uncontrollably angry.
Hence my comment. But I like yours, too – it’s pretty obvious that the cops in this country are incapable of using weapons judiciously.
@ CrazyH –
Hey, don’t lump all us “ex-pats” into one group!
I knew quite well what your reference was.
(And I think M. Henri did, as well.) 🙂
@derleher – you may be right. No insult intended to anyone.
I occasionally fall victim to the sin of assuming that everyone on the net is not only an English speaker, but is thoroughly versed in American … uh … “culture”
@ CrazyH –
Oh, I don’t think anyone has been insulted. I certainly wasn’t, and – having visited with Henri by means of this board – I don’t think he was, either.
The “going postal” registered with me immediately. I used to work for the USPS (not)! 🙂
Thanks for calling this to my attention, Ted.
