Trans-Liberal

Months after declaring her presidential candidacy and decades after entering political life, Hillary Clinton delivered a speech in Roosevelt Island, New York in which she came out as a liberal. Given that this is a major departure from her history as a right-wing Democrat, how can progressives who have walked the walk all along deal with this leftie-come-lately

  • Ted,

Back in 2012 you did a couple of cartoons for a group I was involved with – “Boycott the 2012 Presidential Elections”. Will you once again come out unequivocally for an election boycott? We need to delegitimize this entirely corrupt system. Unless there are international observers and a fully transparent process, I feel that progressive American citizens would be wise to stay home on election day and not even participate in municipal elections; better yet, they should demonstrate and picket at polling places. This is an initiative that can unite Left and even some moderate, populist right-wing elements. It must be shown that the U.$. is a fake democracy, and rather, a dollar dictatorship.

    • There actually is a rather large alternative right presence online that is as marginalized in the mainstream as the alternative left is.

      • I haven’t voted since 2010 when I did for a Green gubernatorial candidate.

  • Oh, and what is a “CIS Socialist”?

  • Did Hillary undergo a lobotomy?
I see Sanders closing the gap in some polls.
[When she distances herself from Monsanto and GMOs, I’ll sit up and pay attention.]

It’s the contagion of failure. She’s already appealing to her mother’s hardships (translation: I have none of my own). This could turn into the biggest disaster since New Coke.

    • derlehrer,

You’re a reasonable, intelligent fellow. Surely it should take more than that one adjustment of opinion. Mass surveillance, “free trade,” military intervention, etc.

      • @ Jack Heart –

The phrase “… sit up and pay attention” is not to be confused with “… vote for her” but to indicate that nothing she says will be of import to me until she distances herself from GMOs.
        πŸ™‚

[After all, studies indicate that these poisons are directly affecting the health of her “subjects” — and that fact should be a concern of hers, especially since she insisted on organic foods while in the White House!]

Am I missing it, or are people missing the obvious fun to be had by commenting on the Hillary “logo”?

It’s like a high school student was doodling on a FedEx envelope. What’s the motto going to be? “Hillary will deliver.”?

It’s almost like her campaign people took a look under the hood and couldn’t find anything there. “Shit. She’s completely a void. What do we use?”
