The Evolution of Trumpcare

Once again, GOP Senate leaders have been forced to cancel a planned vote on Trumpcare’s “repeal and replace” plan. Now President Trump says he wants to repeal Obamacare without replacing it. Can you say political suicide?

  • «Can you say political suicide?» What’s with the adjective, Ted ? And will they be posting it live on social media (in which case I might just subscribe, for one episode) ?…

  • General Buck Turgidson advises Trump on Obamacare repeal and replace: “Mr. President, I’m not saying we wouldn’t get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops, uh, depending on the breaks.”

    Life imitates satire.

  • I’ve noted this one before – the right-wing idjits painted themselves into a corner with hundreds of repeal votes and promises to an ignorant electorate. They called it “Obamacare” on purpose – using the name of the President they taught the faithful to hate. Meanwhile, the Faithful signed up for their state exchanges without realizing they were participating in the hated Obamacare.

But now – seven years later – the faithful have gotten used to having insurance and won’t be happy about giving it up. OTOH, if the idjits *don’t* repeal it – they’ll look silly (sillier) to the electorate while pissing off their owners.

Damned if they do, damned it they don’t, damn but it makes for some great entertainment.

    • @ CrazyH –

“Meanwhile, the Faithful signed up for their state exchanges without realizing they were participating in the hated Obamacare.”

That’s what slays me. I’ve read discussion boards that contain comments by folks who absolutely hate “Obamacare” and want it repealed. A bit later in the thread they express gratitude for the fact that they have enrolled in the much more preferable Affordable Care Act and praise its provisions. This is the personification of ignorance (if not stupidity).

      • The biggest problem with democracy is that anyone can vote – including those who are ignorant or misinformed about the subject.

It would be nice to ensure that every voter understood the issues before voting. Unfortunately that puts duh gubbmint in charge of deciding who understands … and so the cure is worse than the disease.

We’ve already got a problem in that many states don’t allow felons to vote. But who decides who is a felon? Snowden and Manning are felons for purely political reasons – and I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t vote for warmongers. See? The system works!

      • “… and so the cure is worse than the disease.”
