I wonder about the being forced to celebrate alone. I don’t think it’s the silence or the solitude in and of itself that’s cracking people. I think it’s that a lot of people, in that silence and solitude, are discovering exactly how horrible they really are. Imagine you’re a Brunch Democrat who voted for, um, Biden. What must the small portion of your brain that still thinks be whispering to you in the early morning hours?
