Support People by Killing Other People

American politicians and television viewers have been deeply moved by images of the suffering people of Ukraine. Unfortunately, the main response has been to impose brutal sanctions on Russia that will destroy the Russian people but not their leaders, who are well insulated from the effect of sanctions. If humanitarianism is the point here, what about the people, the human beings, of Russia?

  • They (CIA/State Department creepos) want to re-create the atmosphere that birthed the February Revolution in 1917, forgetting that the Left is tiny in Russia now. They want a palace coup or a general revolt. They probably won’t get what they want, and even if it did work, a neo-socialist Russia would scare the crap out of the elderly dinks in Congress. The war has not gone Putin’s way and he should stop it, but V. V. Putin is like an attack dog and he never relents once he decides to start.

I submit to you that most people have been deeply moved by the images … for a few seconds. We, the people, pretended to care about the Afghan people. We have pretended to care a lot about a lot of people. Funny how we never seem to actually ever get anyone squared away though. Ever. And God help you if you try to press the issue. Biden’s owners pulled the military before getting all the civilians out, and evacuated at the wrong time of the year. But the NYT’s half-assed, half-hearted support for Not-Trump still goes on.

  • Yes! This is a fair and tough critique of the current administration, and what’s more, it’s a fair and good drawing of the current president. Thank you. This raises a huge question — how can we (or how can a White House) punish Vladimir Putin without killing the Russian people?
