Self-deportation also looks like smart, highly skilled people moving to New Zealand and Canada.
Some of the Dreamers are smart, highly motivated STEM types as well. The more smart people leave the country, the better Scrooge McDondald’s chances for reelection.

Trump wants to restrict immigration to educated STEM types and eliminate immigration of the non-educated who are now entitled to immigration because of having family members already here.
An abundance of STEM workers is sure to please the corporations by driving domestic wages down, and also eliminating the inconvenience of gaming the H1B system.

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
