Liberals’ Wishful Thinking about Joe Biden

Now that Bernie Sanders is out of the race; dispirited progressives are projecting their own hopes and dreams onto Joe Biden despite the total absence of any indication that he will do anything for them.

  • Re: ” … the total absence of any indication that he (Biden) will do anything for” progressives.

Not only is there an absence of indication that Joe “hey, where you going with those feet in your mouth” Biden will do anything for the benefit of progressives, there is CLEAR indication to the contrary, as in J(H,WYGWTFYM)B’s essential quote regarding the mission of the administration he seeks: “NOTHING FUNDAMENTAL WILL CHANGE.”

When (if ever) a reich-winger like JB makes progressive noises, they are lying, roughly 99.99999% of the time. HOWEVER, when they promise reich-wing dreams, as above, it can be taken as incontrovertible TRUTH … as elusive is that concept !!!

To expect anything from a J(H,WYGWTFYM)B administration besides continued abuse of life on earth in pursuit of profit (and a Depends™ budget emulating that of the Pentagon) simply takes establishement Dems magical thinking to ever dizzying heights.

When I read the first panel, I though Ted had, finally succumbing to stress, gone insane.
My only qualm? Joe Biden won’t win. Joe Biden can’t win.
Seriously, do the math, I’ll wait. If a train, leaving Philadelphia and carrying seven passengers, has a one-term president, what year is it? Why, bless my soul, your train would have to be traveling 1989.
You have to go all the way back the George H.W. Bush to find a one-term president. All the others, Obama, Cheney, Clinton (that’s 24 years right there) were two-termers. As was Reagan.
The likelihood Trump will only get one term? Running against Biden? Just about zero.
There’s a lot of reasons for it, but for space considerations, I’ll be superbrief.
When we hit 60 million unemployed? Many of those people weren’t living in their own homes. Being evicted or kicked off brother-in-law’s couch will not be quite as brutal mentally as losing a home would. A lot of the 60 million went through this back in 2007. The stress will kill quite a few, either just mentally or actually physically.
And finally? Trump offers a very obvious path ot authority-approved racist thought and action. We’ve spent 40 years being conditioned to think of everything in terms of Identity Politics. That’ll come to an ugly, racism-fueled, violent head. I wouldn’t be surprised to see armed men (not police or soldiers) standing around polling stations, wearing MAGA hats. (So much for the black vote, Joe. Not that you were going to win any states thanks to it.)
And dang, the moderation is back. Stupid internet series of tubes.

  • Obama caged more children than Trump, did more to increase fossil fuel production than Trump, destroyed Libya and Syria, all of which were GREAT! If only we didn’t have those stupid term limits.
Trump, on the other hand, is the absolute worst president the US has ever had according to the MSM, the Obamabots the Clintonbots, and probably the Bushbots (Jr & Sr). After all, he’s obviously Putin’s puppet, since St Hillary promised to force Putin to step down on Day 1, and Putin would have had no choice but to do as she told him.
And with a similar choice this year, I’ll either stay home or vote for a 3rd party. Somehow, I cannot see what the majority figure is obvious: that every patriotic American must vote early and often against Trump, disirregardless of who (or what) is running again’ him.

  • Those who think that the Democratic Party in the US differs in its essence from that country’s Republican Party – not there are many such who frequent this forum – would be advised to read this article in the latest issue of the Intercept….

    • Hi Henri,

There is one apparent difference between “the two” American political parties.

The GOP employs its electoral fraud against the Dems.

The Dems employ their electoral fraud against other Dems
… most recently against their candidates who poll consistently, and with wide margins, in hypothetical races against GOP opponents

      • One must admit, falco, that it’s a fascinating political system you people have over there – made, as it were, for TV. But why it’s sometimes referred to as a «democracy» is a bit harder to understand. But then I suppose it’s like bombing a country to promote «human rights» there ; some things are just difficult for us ordinary folk to grasp….
