Jared Diamond, Call Your Office

In one of the most overtly racist statements ever made by a presidential candidate, Mitt Romney attributes the difference in GDP and average income between Israel and the Palestinian Occupied Territories not to the occupation and trade embargo, but to Palestinian’s supposedly inferior culture.

  • I’ve got to call you on this description. Presidential candidates have, historically, made a shit ton of racist statements. I think every other sentence that came out of Woodrow Wilson’s mouth was probably worse than this, and quite possibly several statements from Gingrich, Santorum, et al. just within the last 12 months.

  • Quoting a tweet I just read, that must have been what held down the dwellers of the Warsaw Ghetto, not the walls and machine guns. What I find most disturbing, though, is how unashamed Romney is of campaigning in a foreign country and pandering to that country’s government’s whims. Were that any other country, the mainstream media left and right (but mostly on the right) would be screaming bloody murder. What’s the point of electing your fancy shmancy president, just let Bibi be in charge of your foreign policy and be done with it.

I’m sure that somewhere in the transcripts of every idiotic thing St. Ronnie ever said (and wouldn’t those have been lovely in an impeachment trial for how he wiped his ass with the Constitution during Iran-Contra?) are racist statements that would stun us all.

And don’t forget [expletive deleted] Tricky Dick Nixon.

  • The sad thing is that apart from rarae aves like anschelsc, no one in the Untied States is aware of the fact that Willard Mitt is right in the mainstream of US politics, current and past….
