Can anyone explain to me why “progressives” must be so outraged by the fate of Khashoggi but say not a word about Assange?
Any examples of Khashoggi ‘s presumed “exemplary” work for the CIA front, neo-con riddled Washington Post?

That Saudi Arabia murdered a journalist sure sounds shocking. But lots of people get murdered by governments. The American Indian genocide, the Jewish holocaust, the current extirpation of various groups that barely gets reported in the newspapers. That’s all government in action. I’m sure the U.S. has done its share of wetwork of comparable violence, all paid for by the general public. But this time, golly, someone with a lot of U.S. journalists for friends was on the wrong end of realpolitik. And in a year, all those pretend-outraged at the New York Times and the Washington Post will be typing vapid nonsense about avocado toast and heart hands and so forth. Just like every year there’s one column about the homeless around Thanksgiving and one around Christmas.
