I love this column by Katha Pollitt where she reveals her call from God:

Now that Congress has affirmed that “In God We Trust” they can set themselves to the task of determining exactly which god we should trust in.
(Oh wait. That would be blatantly unconstitutional. Sort of like denying the right of the people to peaceably assemble and to petition their government for a redress of grievances. Oops!)
(Also torture, habeas corpus, and spying on law-abiding citizens.)
Hey, I’m okay with God, maybe he’s using his grace to make me a sarcastic asshole… On the flip side if there is really a God I am pretty screwed considering i’ve only been inside a place of worship three times.. three different churches, I just be a God whore.

Our Imaginary Friend who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy multiple names and personalities.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in the 4th District as it is in Heaven.
Give us our daily breadlines and forgive us our socialism and we will never forgive those who occupy against us.
And lead us not into choice, but deliver us from reason.
For Thine is the homophobia and the misogyny and the hypocrisy forever and ever.
Or else.
My experience with forensic psychiatric patients who speak with deities would seem to indicate that the difference between them and politicians who do so lies mainly in that the latter tend to advocate large-scale murder by proxy, while the former are more small scale and hands on….
