Faced with a divided Democratic base of support, Kamala Harris is seeking a “middle ground” on Israel’s war against Gaza. Is such a thing possible?

Good, ol’ Teddy Brown, should don a zig-zag shirt every day…………………You know, Ted, her plan might be better than that. BTW, you conspiracy theory on DMZ about how Harris got the job…………………….you need to unearth 4chan.
Harris is doing better than Biden was in the polls. She’d be hard-pressed to do worse, so her “bump” is very meager stew. Harris has managed to claw back some of the voters that serial plagiarist/serial fabulist Joe Biden lost, but I doubt she’s taking away any of Trump’s people.
The cold equations of the swing states have forced Harris’ hand. She has to pick Shapiro. The probabilities are that if Trump wins Pennsylvania, he will win the White House. However, the “middle ground” on Israel is, campaign-wise, suicide. She’s already pissed off AIPAC, which isn’t going to help. And a “half a loaf of genocide” will alienate some of the voters in Michigan. If Harris wins Pennsylvania but loses Michigan, all Trump needs is Arizona (or Nevada), which, with illegal immigration as a big driver there, he probably will do.
I suspect Shapiro will deliver a bump in Pennsylvania … and nowhere else. If Harris’ numbers stay low, I guess the only thing left for the dnc to do is to order Joe Biden to resign in the hopes that a three-month turnkey presidency before the election would push Harris over the top.
I really have my doubts that she will break free of the two-person pack on this one.
It’s a failure of both logic and political understanding of the US “unity party” to imply that a position of “middle ground” with regards Gaza could possibly mean anything less than 110% genocide. To the contrary, on the issue of Israel, “middle ground” means: “we pledge our everlasting,*** subservience to our heroic liege lord Netanhayu.”

*** which may be no longer than a few days now that the liege lord has gone on an assassination spree that has mobilized Iran to action (along with the lord’s underlings … to his much-needed defense.)
