Some pundits say that the early presidential front-runners for the 2016 campaign are Hillary Rodham Clinton and Jeb Bush. They act like it’s the most exciting thing in the world to go to these familiar familial retreads, but what could possibly be more boring than for a country of 311 million people to resort to the same old same old? We may have had a revolution to throw out the British and the monarchy, but the old tribalist instinct lives on.

  • Were I enfranchised in US elections, I could go for the Genghis Khan programme. Do follow this one up, Ted !…

  • Right On Ted – You got a real smile with that Genghis Khan thing, and it’s true, his son followed in his father’s footsteps, so them thar Khans do qualify as a Die Nasty. Seriously though, with the idea of a New Year, one of my wishes is that all the followers of this blog could set aside their personal animosities towards each other, and their own personal tree in the forest, and we could try to follow your suggested 12 step program – starting with an organized effort to start implementing the steps with actual actions – Not a scattered unfocused OWS, but instead, things like boycotting Corps and their products, blasting the unofishal wars, and lambasting legislators with thousands of direct emails and written letters – but we need to get organized, focused, and be willing to follow an effective course of action without getting sidetracked.
