New president Joe Biden signed a raft of executive orders which made big headlines but had very little practical effect.

I like the subtlety of how the woman reading the physical newspaper is the one who has all the facts and figures while the woman playing on the box of flashing lights only has the PR-managed deets.
As I recall, the executive actions were roughly the same under Obama. Lots of flash, little substance. It would be interesting — if someone actually still worked in the mainstream media; prolix essays about how Trump was personally offensive to someone don’t count as work — for a reporter to dredge up the signings for the past several presidents and analyze them all. My suspicion is that, um, Biden’s signings are quite comparable to the work of his predecessors (at least on the dem side).
