Voting Democratic this fall? There’s no telling what they’ll do if they take back the House or the Senate because they refuse to make specific promises.

This abominable shit was pulled by the GOP during the Obumma era, if I recall correctly.
So, AGAIN, the Dems (functional Repubs) will be imitating registered Repubs … and we know how voters will react to that. (Exacerbated by the apparent Dem voter assumption that national elections only happen every four years.)
Surely, Ted, they pledge to collect their salaries – and accept «campaign contributions» if elected ? What more can one ask ?… 😉

I recall that in 2016 there was a lot of talk about how the Republican Party might simply wink out of existence because it had fielded such a sorry batch of primary contenders. (Hillary Clinton prevented that from happening by “winning”* the primary and helping to reconstitute the opposition party; no one else could have done it, but Hillary got it done.)
Now, in 2018, the Dems are “not making any promises.” It’s the end game of morally bankrupt politics. The DNC leadership cannot admit to having back the wrong team for 30 to 40 years, so they have to keep convincing themselves that even though everyone wants universal healthcare and no-cost-to-the-student tuition at college and so forth, centrism is the way to go. They have painted themselves into an ideological corner and cannot get out of it.
Bernie Sanders is going to mop that floor with them. And I hope he has enough sense to sweep all these triangulating bastards right out the door.
can’t break ’em if you don’t make ’em.
So … would this be the first bunch of honest politicians we’ve seen in some time? “If elected, I promise not to do a damn thing” – I could get behind that, actually.
To CrazyH:
You did not get the full quote: “If elected, I promise not to do a damn thing … for you, the people”
😀
«You did not get the full quote: “If elected, I promise not to do a damn thing … for you, the people”» If only, falco, one could get them to promise – and keep that promise – «not to do a damn thing … to you, the people»…. 😉

«You did not get the full quote: “If elected, I promise not to do a damn thing … for you, the people”» Do you think, falco, one could get them to promise – and keep that pledge – «not to do a damn thing … to you, the people» ?… 😉
