Obama and the Democrats have achieved a sweeping victory. Now it’s time for them to dismantle Bush’s gulag archipelago of torture. Not after forming a committee to look into it. Not after we’ve found the best way to do it. Immediately.

We should really start showing Gibney's Taxi to the Dark Side – or parts of it – in middle-school History classes as an instructive warning.
now the euphoria has passed I expect nothing at all will change with regard to foreign/attack policy. As well as your suggestions I would also council taking Cuba off your pariah list, surely the longest schoolground sulk in history. The Israeli newspaper Maariv called Emanuel "our man in the White House" so Obama will toe the line there – what a pity the Promised Land is not in North Dakota, plenty of land to build houses there.
nice comic.
the green party needs change its name and start gearing up for when Obama becomes linked to the bad economy and the wars in the minds of voters.
We can't afford to lose the ship on this gamble.
btw, are there any Oxy alums here?
AMEN!
I might even willingly endure 2 years of unfettered Democratic control if Obama can end US torture.
I disagree. The first thing, or rather included in the agenda he works for first should be a dual action of re-instating the "Fairness Doctrine" and ending the "Media Monopolies". They've been staunch propaganda puppets for the right wing and the short-term goals of the rich elite. They must be gotten rid of so the news can actually report facts.
As an Oxy alum I resemble that comment
Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo.
Shovel them under and let me work I am the grass, I cover all.
And pile them high at Gettysburg
And pile them high at Ypres and Verdun.
Shovel them under and let me work.
Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?
Where are we now?
I am the grass. Let me work.
Dorme bene…
