President Biden has been running around saying that, if Democrats make sizable gains in the midterm elections, they would codify abortion rights at the federal level. Of course, this is a promise that he will never have to keep because the precondition is not going to happen.

Would anyone care to review for me the Dem’s (presumably myriad) preconditions needed to codify abortion right in federal law that apparently were never met in the almost 50 years from the 1973 Roe v. Wade SCOTUS decision until its demise in the recent ruling of the same court?
The biggest reason the dems couldn’t codify it, falco, was that it was their biggest moneymaker. Once they put it on the books, they’d have to go on to something else, like finally fixing voting rights, which they still haven’t done either. Or universal healthcare, which Obama couldn’t do for the four months he could have because, sigh, “We didn’t elect a king. The Republicans are mean. My head hurts. I wanna drinka water.”
I would be fascinated to see what would happen if the dems got 80 Senate seats and 300 House seats. “Well, see, we can’t pass any of this legislation because, uh, we have to play Fizzbin to determine who casts the deciding vote, and it’s Thursday, so we had to give the deck of cards back. It’s all part of our plan to fight hard. Did I mention my son who died of cancer? How about God? I brought him up, right? Those are my two jobs, you know. That and Amtrak.”
