But as Abbott Joseph Liebling pointed out, «Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one» and the same goes for freedom of the broadcasting network, etc, etc. Good thing access to the Internet remains relatively free – but for how long ?…

My favorite part of this cartoon is the young woman at the video game — I mean, control panel. Her posture and the look on her face speak volumes about the “routine systemic violence” we live with every day, and give a clue both to its source and the mechanisms of maintaining that remote faceless brutality.
Looks as if Thomas Stearns Eliot was both right and wrong – the world may well end with a bang, but in that case it will probably be first experienced as an image on a monitor, i e, a whimper….
