Former President Obama is drawing liberal fire for accepting a $400,000 fee for speaking to a Wall Street firm, Cantor Fitzgerald. Remember how Hillary Clinton never got over criticism for giving speeches for six-figure fees to Goldman Sachs as late as 2013? Obama shows how you can get away with selling out your purported principles: first you do what your future sponsors want in office, THEN you collect your big payday.

I’ll take the role of the devil’s advocate. Suppose you just retired from the day-to-day grind of the role of the “Leader of the Free World”, and you wanted nothing better than to relax a bit. Maybe when requested, you really don’t feel like traveling around giving speeches. What better way to discourage others from asking you than to demand a huge sum of money to accept the task?
On the topic of Hillary – seems the dem strategists have determined that H’s biggest problem last November was that many Obama voters went for not Jill Stein, but Trump. 🙂

The Democrats thought they could force the despicable Hillary down the throats of the “deplorables” in a match-up with Trump, whom the neo-liberal fake media bubble predicted had only a 15% chance of winning against her.
That $400,000 must be the Peace Prize awarded to Obama by Cantor Fitzgerald for pacifying Occupy Wall Street.
Obama pacified the anti-war movement, without pacifying US foreign policy.
I suppose there are some who would still find that pacification worthy of a prize.
He certainly did his part, and the corporate media did theirs as well. I remember radio in the sixties – the DJs were slamming Nixon and the war, talking about peace rallies, offering aid to draft-dodgers, playing “Give Peace a Chance” and the “I’m Feeling Like I’m Fixin’ to Die Rag” (complete with the album version of the Fish Cheer)
Contrast that to today. By 9/11 most radio stations were owned by a huge right-wing conglomerate. The same DJs were actually hyping the war! (I mean “supporting the troops”) Gone was fixin’ to die, and Clear Channel BANNED ‘Give Peace a Chance” outright.
Mr Obama is, in his professorial way, informing Ms Clinton that the relationship between high office and taking bribes from Wall Street (aka as giving speeches) is not commutative, i e, the order in which these operations are done is of the greatest relevance for the outcome….
Of course, Ms Clinton claims that the dear professor is in error ; it wasn’t the order in which she performed the operations above that sunk her electoral ship, but rather that dastardly Putin and the FBI….
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur….
