Thoughtful people fear that Donald Trump will become not just the Republican nominee, but president of the United States. He could be stopped if his opponents were able to unite, but they’re too selfish to put the interests of the nation ahead of their own. And so disaster looms. Where have we seen this before?

> they’re too selfish
Which is the only thing keeping us from becoming a one-party system. If they’d stop competing & start cooperating, we’d be sunk.
I think they ARE cooperating. This electoral spectacle is mostly contrived. I think there is a faction of the ruling class that truly finds Trump uncouth and unsavory, but they can deal with him. They can also deal with Sanders, but they are much more afraid of the Pandora’s box of potential reforms and social expectations that his presidency could unleash. The Proles could get a bit too uppity under Sanders, from their point of view.
Could be worse, Ted – you (and we who are unable to vote in your elections, but also suffer from your choices) could get Rafael Edward Cruz instead….
