Ideally, regular citizens should be no more required to give a cop some slack for the job he does anymore than any of us should surrender deference to a Northwest Pacific Ocean fisherman. Police work is not even in the top-ten most dangerous jobs to perform. From what I’ve seen and experienced, many (if not most) law enforcers are actually BIG COWARDS. Worse than that, an inordinate number of those cowards are also VICIOUS.

One thing’s for certain however, if you take away their over-the-top military toys, they do become a least a bit more polite around people who can obviously KICK THEIR ASSES.
The gangbangers of law enforcement are VERY frightened of an armed society. They really do prefer their murder to be the “fish-in-a-barrel” variety. This is mostly because they wear their most of their manhood in a side-holster.

And what if pigs could fly?
(Did I just say pigs?)
Remember the “Twinkie” defense?
It’s been superseded by the “I’m a brave, heavily-armed cop who is afraid of comic book characters” defense.
