Too Much Firepower

After a gunman shot 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard, gun control advocates wondered aloud: what will it take for America to pass common-sense gun control legislation? But the questions they asked about the shooter — why didn’t anyone stop him despite his history of violence? — could just as easily apply to more prominent figures than the lone gunman.

  • The ‘toon is dated September 23rd !!! That’s the first time in a long while that such as this has happened. What went wrong?

    • I have no clue what’s going on. It appears to be some sort of long-standing bug within WordPress. My brilliance new web designer and I have both been working on this for ages, but we still haven’t figured it out.

The correct cartoon has now been posted.

  • Ted,

With this negative attitude toward The One, you are NEVER gonna get invited to the White House Press Corps Dinner.

    Tsk. Tsk.

  • We got a sneak peek of the 23rd!

Really ANY different take on a shooting is better than the 99% ordinary drivel we get, but this is the best thing to do with it. Make a relevant analogy with something that needs illumination. Simple. This is the type of thing that makes me hate the focus we have on appearances. This is where it gets very damaging. Obama is ‘important.’ Lots of people agree with him. His actions happen through a system that implies legality and consideration. He looks professional. He was elected…I think we have seen enough to conclude that American politicians are the last people who should be allowed weapons.

Wanna bet that if Obama personally went on a killing spree in a domestic military base that they could just say he found out it was a nest of terrorist agents, and it would become a hit movie about our heroic hands-on action president?!

  • Ted, I think you are being unfair. After all, the name of the game is pay to play and Mr Obama bought his security clearance and right to extreme violence fair and square ; according to the WaPo (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/campaign-finance/), it cost him and his team some 1 110 million USD, which, despite QE, remains a considerable figure. Mr Alexis surely didn’t pay more than a fraction of that sum….
