All flag waiving looks like Triumph of the Will to me.
The cartoonist seems to not understand what he’s doing. A soldier salutes every day because that’s a requirement that the soldier entered into voluntarily (no more draft) when he enlisted. I don’t salute every day because I’m not a soldier. It’s like asking someone who has no children if they fed the baby this morning.
And why does the soldier look like he’s smoldering with resentment and thuggish brutality?
