“Americans enjoy the presumption of innocence and the right to a fair and speedy trial, by a jury of their peers, under the Sixth and Seventh Amendments.”
Mr Rall is still stuck in the medieval times of the 20th century. Americans only want the right not to be murdered by the Islamic terrorists that permeate the US population and the entire Islamic world. Now, ‘It is far better that a thousand innocents be executed than that a single guilty terrorist goes unpunished’ lest the terrorists set off WMD that kill millions. What use is freedom and privacy if one is killed by those pervasive Islamic terrorists? One must relinquish all such inessential luxuries for the essentials of security and safety.

“What’s worse, most Americans don’t care.”
When Mr Rall reads the comments on his columns at gocomics (less so on his blog) he can see that this is clearly false. Most Americans DO care. They want those Islamic-enemy-combatant-criminal-terrorists–men, women, children, and infants–killed. Some of the right-wingnuts says that’s the ONLY good thing Obama has done. The more rabid right-wingnuts post comments that Obama said, ‘As a Muslim, I order the US military not to kill my Muslim friends,’ but the military, knowing Obama is a Kenyan and is not legally the president or the Commander in Chief, has been ignoring Obama and following Romney’s orders to kill those evil terrorists. Including those evil women and infants. (Some of us wonder where they get this stuff, but it doesn’t matter–they’re the majority, and this is a Democracy, which means they’re right.)

As Jon Steward has pointed out, Executive Privilege, used by someone I voted for, is essential to keep the executive branch of the government working. Used by someone I voted against, it’s an unconstitutional, criminal cover-up that justifies impeachment.
But covering up the huge mistake that contributed to the death of one border agent is only an impeachable offense for those who want any excuse, however feeble, to impeach Obama. Otherwise, it’s no different from what Bush, Jr did and got away with.
The radical reich is bored with easy impeachments – like wayward, presidential “cigars.”
Now they’ve set themselves a truly admirable challenge: to impeach Obama for what Bush did.
Maybe there IS a reason to vote for Obama. If we can’t have bread at least we can have circuses!
