The only thing worse for Nikki Haley would have been if, instead of losing to “none of the above,” she had lost to a write-in campaign for Donald Trump.

No one on the left likes it but here’s the correct framing: Trump is popular. In a democratic system of government, being a candidate that people want is not supposed to be a bug, it’s supposed to be a feature. Any — and I do mean ANY — attempt to debar or restrain him is, de facto, rigging an election. The democrats had plenty of time to prosecute him for Jan. 6. They didn’t. Why? Because they thought he’d just go away so why bother. Why be “difficult” with a rich person? Here’s the answer: because no one is supposed to be above the law. If weirdo in a pair of horns and face paint can draw a prison sentence, Trump should have been served on Jan. 20, his passport confiscated, and his ankle fitted with a monitor.

Instead, the democrats sat on their hands because that’s what they always do. It’s too late now.
