    A significant difference between the gay/lesbian struggle and what the transgender are facing is the economics. Cis gay men have a 12% poverty rate, lesbians at about 18%, but transgender people have a 29% one. And there’s lots more gay people than transgender people. So all that disposable income translated into spending power, power to buy politicians’ attention via campaign donations. Transgender people are at a massive disadvantage.
