It’s a full plate of debate and discussion between political cartoonists Scott Stantis (on the Right) and Ted Rall (on the Left) as they confront the closing days of America’s chaotic pullout from Afghanistan, the rise of an Afghan terrorist group that makes the Taliban look warm and fuzzy, and the issue of what to do (or not to) when a cartoon deadline looms. Plus: school is back in session and we still can’t decide what to do about COVID: mask mandates, vaccine mandates or nothing at all.

I think the big problem is how people convince themselves they’re doing something “good.” In Ted’s comment about being a parent, look at how often parents arrange for THEIR children to go ahead of other people’s children. Whether it’s for a job, a cookie, a lifetime of wealth, whatever, parents are almost always doing the whole “I’m doing it for my children. My children matter so much more than any other child. I’d slit a thousand kids’ throats to make my little girl smile for just a second.”
