As you may or may not know, one of my very best friends is Scott Stantis, the conservative-leaning cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune. We talk almost every day about current events, politics, the state of the world today, personal stuff, whatever. He’s an amazing guy with diametrically opposed politics from mine.
Even though we have often had spirited debates and discussions, we always manage to keep things civil and we never call each other names or get angry at each other over our disagreements. Because of that, we have often thought that it would be good for us to do a radio show or a podcast together at some point. Now we’re doing it.
Here’s the very first episode of what I guess you might call the “soft launch” of “DMZ America with Ted Rall and Scott Stantis.” The name DMZ was Scott’s idea; think of it as us meeting in a demilitarized zone in order to hash out differences.
Currently we’re planning to do it about twice a week.
Recording quality on the first go around was a little rough, particularly on my end because I don’t think I was close enough to the mic. So bear with us. It’s going to get better. If you like what you hear, please share it! This will live or die based on its circulation.

Thank you, I will try to find time to listen. In case you are interested in wish list items … a transcript is much faster to read for those of us with many demands for our time.
Thanks for the suggestion. If we can somehow do an automated transcript, we will do that.
What platforms are you guys going to be posting on, or are you thinking of only having access through your individual sites?

We will end up posting on all the major podcast platforms. But it takes a while for the feed to go up.
I appreciate ending up friends with odd sorts. But I have issues with being friends with actual conservatives. I can’t ever avoid thinking about the fact that it’s someone who want others to suffer. I see no way around that, however nice “personally” they are.
I find it interesting, Cuomo’s pretty much going to get roasted alive. And … STILL I haven’t seen Trump being served with papers.
I find it really not interesting that after Ted explains about how people are really, truly, severely being destroyed by the evictions and all the rest of the end-stage capitalism mayhem, Scott responds with some glib nonsense about Oreos.
Some things shouldn’t be lead-ins to bad stabs at funny.
Can you add “air dates” to the podcasts?
