My Kickstarter campaign is stalled at $6842. Which is awesome! Thanks to more than 100 backers, that’s a lot of money. Still. I need $40,000 and it’s obvious I’m not going to get it.
That gamer strip got $1,200,000.
Lefties always complain that no one is daring enough, that no one is fighting for the Left, but they don’t support their writers and artists. When Rush and Hannity and Coulter put out books, right-wingers support them. At times like this, I wish I was like them and didn’t give a shit about the poor and oppressed.

Yeah, didn’t I tell you to switch sides? Much more lucrative. No doubt about it. I told you to use “Obama disillusionment” as your excuse. I’m telling you, you’ll be rolling in the dough. Frankly, I don’t know why you “give a shit about the poor and oppressed”. Who are they in the end? Rich people without the money.
The people understand that revolution is unnecessary and will have an unpleasant outcome. You might want to take the hint rather than whine that the general public doesn’t want to buy what you’ve got to sell.

Why don’t you draw a cartoon with poor and starving Rall on the street corner with a cup of pencils? Send it to Fox News – maybe that would work.
I know of a website called Cracked, you could go there and make a few bucks writing about the zombie Apocalypse or something. I’m sure its much more popular than talking badly about Obama, the king of people who read kiddie cartoons.

I’ll give it to you straight up.
We are all entering into the terminal stage of capitalism. Cartooning, journalism, a few other fields are all the canaries in the coal mine. The end result is easily perceived. As technology continues to provide more and more of the finished products for free, more and more people are entering the permanent-unemployed class, and only a sliver of them can be retrained.
I suspect it will end in mass incarceration: those who are unemployed and can’t show that someone is financially responsibility for them will be removed, shipped to a concentration camp (lots of wide-open spaces in the Midwest), and simply not allowed to leave. It’s been done before. Google George Takei. Locking up American citizens is as American as smallpox blankets and apple pie.

The issue is that gamers far outnumber lefties, because they come from left, right, and center. Gamers have far more uniform opinion then lefties, all of them can appreciate their games and the secondary creations spawned from them (such as comics), meanwhile not all lefties appreciate the same things, e.x. the lefties of the Daily Kos seem to hate you for some sad reason.
Beyond lack of mere numbers, lefties do donate. I donate to you, and many other leftie artists and causes every single month, and I am not someone special in this regard rather I am pretty much just run-of-the-mill average lefty because of this. The issue is that we are just plain tapped out. If I stopped donating to the people and causes that I do then over the course of the year I would probably about double my post tax post rent income, and again, that is pretty average behavior. In January after making a large number of extra (post)holiday donations to deserving individuals I threw in a few hundred extra for you for your new computer on top of my usual donation to you, and then spent myself broke on trying to bail out the “Columbia Citypaper” to no avail. I lived the last week of that month on the £27 in my pocket, which really isn’t that bad, but it does mean I am not exactly hording money for my own personal greed to starve out good causes. Again none-of this is special, lefties give till it hurts and are thus already tapped out.
Due to general un- and underemployment many people in general, including lefties, are also dirt fucking poor. I hate to single out people but look at alex_the_tired, what do you want from him that he can afford to give you? Do you want his kidneys or something?
