I saw this trope on an Occupy site:
To light a candle, ask a liberal.
To start a fire, call a radical.
Co-optation is the rope that will hang this system; stoking peoples’ expectations when they are at their most desperate will have major repercussions.
The reactionary right, being the two corporatist parties of the plutocracy, will do their best to coopt and pervert the liberating energy of the Occupy movement.
Now comes the effort at the counter-occupation of Occupy, the Cooptupy, the top down usurpers, the enemies of the enemies of the 1%.
