Didn’t Marx have something to say about this in the Manifesto? Just laying bare the true nature of relationships in capitalism — “romantic” relationships are in essence economic relationships. Why bother with covering it up any longer? We already openly acknowledge that relationships and marriages are “work” and that one needs to “work” on oneself as a “product” to sell to a potential partner. This is the next step.
