“I don’t see why you have to go more than 59 weeks. In fact, we need some incentives for people to get back to work. A lot of these people don’t want to work unless they get really high-paying jobs, and they’re not going to get them ever. So they just stay home and watch television. I don’t mean to malign people, but far too many are doing that.”
—Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Get a (nonexistent) Job!

You have to go with the economy you have, not the economy you wish you had.
Absolutely! For the most part, the nice soft jobs are gone. (actually, the truth is, that they didn’t have to be gone – our own “Americans” decided that fucking their fellow neighbors for a bit more profit by outsourcing was better for themselves)
So – Now that all the nice soft jobs, family-oriented employers, and much of what made America strong and supported a middle class is gone, what can we do?
I say, drag these people out of their homes and make them responsible for what they have done.
Please understand that my view comes from my experience. I worked for over 15 yeras in the Avionics Industry – only to watch most of it out-sourced.

ah…hahahahahaha…ah. ha! welcome to America, chumps! home of the best-educated burger-flippers in the known universe. no wonder everybody wants to come here to steal our jobs. offer us some “incentives” not to jam a pipebomb up yer ass, fuckhead!
next week on ‘Keeping Up With The Karda$hians’…
The Senator should shut up and get back to work. I can hear him not working from all the way over here.
…wait a minute…
What was the context of this quote?
Was Sen. Hatch stirring up a heated debate about term limits for members of Congress???
Were the “people” he refers to his own colleagues in Congress?
Bravo, sir! My sentiments…well, almost exactly!
The 59 week term seems kind of short, but hey, you’re the insider so I’ll trust your judgment on this. That you have the integrity to come forward and admit that while in office for a four year term, you realistically only get about 59 weeks of productive work done shows both remarkable integrity and commitment to efficient government and providing quality service of the American public.
I wish you and your like-minded colleagues speedy success in making this lasting change for the long term benefit of our nation. That must have taken a lot of courage.
I salute you, sir.
Orrin Hatch has been a senator since 1976 – that is 35 years of being on the public dole, making a good salary for what is really just part time work, not to mention the very generous benefits, such as socialized health care. All for selling out his country every chance he gets, like all the other corporate whores and traitors in Washington DC. Fuck you, Orrin, you tax parasite!
Some of us are over-the-hill baby boomers who are shunned by the “free market” system by virtue of age. Experience and motivation count for NOTHING. I lost a full-time, kind of decent-paying job after faithfully and efficiently serving a (totally japanese-owned) corporation (thanks, “America loves the freedom of 7-11”) after 12 years of serving double shifts when 3rd shifters didn’t show up, and even put away groceries after a 3rd shift when 1st shifters were going to be late. I travelled to different stores within the county to “guest clerk” at times. Then, of course, I was accused of “violating the law” when my company ran “cigarette” stings on me. I committed the grave offences of selling smokes to a 20-year -old female “secret shopper” within nine days without requesting to see I.D. Then, of course, the groovy (republican-run) state of Florida was going to deny me unemployment compensation due to “misconduct”. I fought the decision and won, but I’m sure that the taint follows me around everywhere I apply. I’ve been working for a kind of nice company (RGIS) for the past 4 years, but I cannot make a “living” wage.
