Freedom Plaza, Day 2

Currently discussing demands regarding the economy and financial system. Many here are reformists, specifically interested in things like abolishing the IMF in favor of state banks. Sadly, only 15% of attendees of the committee are revolutionists, though my speech was well received overall last night.

People are complicated. Democracy is strange.

  • Tellingly, war only appears at the bottom of the list, and then, only as redeployment (a military term!) of funds, not as “end war now!”
But then again, socialists love war, you just pretend to dislike it when it’s not being waged by the vanguard.

  • State banks? That sounds like a fucking horrible idea! Of course, most people have no clue as to how volatile and unstable the economy was prior to the signing of the Federal Reserve Act in 1913 and instead focus on the mistakes of the Fed during the Great Depression so they can say, “see! Centralised regulation doesn’t work!” Actually, centralised regulation does work and abolishing the Federal Reserve would allow the banks to be even more brazen in pillaging people’s coffers than they have been in recent memory. I, for one, do not want to go to back to the bad old days of the 18th and 19th century when banks printed their own money and set interest rates on loans with no cap and full impunity.
