Just Saying

If someone were to give me this as a gift, I would love them. Probably enough to draw them something.

Just saying.

  • Ted, you commie bastard. LOL!!! Did you see the WW2 era Japanese propaganda posters someone bought in to the Antiques Roadshow?? They were printed for the occupation of the Phillipines. The amazing thing is that they survived the American liberation. "The true historian knows no country." Later…

  • Ted,

I have placed a bid of USD300 on this artwork.

However, I got a query from the seller:

Hello: Might you tike time to repond to my
quiry.Regarding this painting you have bid upon. I am indeed the seller (BaoDai1955) and was rather curious as to how come
you have been on ebay for over 2 years now and
have no feedback. Are you serious in your intent
to acquire this art. I mean you no disrespect
and indeed would be happy to see this art in
any collection or acquired for investment purposes. I really myself am torn with
the decision to let it go to the highest bidder.\
    on ebay.

    My response was:

I was pointed to your offer through Mr. Ted Rall's blog at http://rall.com/rants.html (8 November 2007), and I thought I could present him with this gift as a surprise if I am successful in my bid.

Should you still wish to sell this item, and I am the highest bidder, then the artwork would go to Mr. Ted Rall directly.

  • Wow, Douglas, you're awesome! Whether or not you win the auction, thanks for placing the bid. It means a lot to me.

A suggestion: It might be a good idea to avail yourselves of eBay's escrow service to make sure the seller is honest (does he have a lot of positive feedback?) and for him to feel confident about you. Of course, it isn't strictly necessary. Still, $300 is a lot of cash.

  • Ted,

Sorry. Missed out in the auction by $3.67.

  • No problem, Douglas. Thanks, anyway, for trying! This is one of those rare times when it really is the thought that counts.

  • When the poster arrives at your door with a note explaining the "protective powder", you might want to rip it open and smell the ink. Remember that you have enemies.
