We Wish

Many voters hear right-wingers describe Obama as a Kenyan-born, Alinsky-loving, radical socialist—and wish it were true.

  • Yes – I understand – So what? Are you really alloting space to respond to the “birther” crap? Fine – I just exchanged Euros for dollars and made $10,000 on the exchange while you worried about a non-issue. I couldn’t have done it as easily if i didn’t have so many people like you off in another non- direction – making cartoons and oblivious to what was happening during that time. Dude – i love it – keep on sidelining and misdirecting people in al sorts of ways while I ignore you and focus on REAL things…….

  • The left hasn’t been anywhere NEAR supportive enough in the last 30 years to get a socialist elected.

I’m hoping they’ll get a clue, quit trying to punish Democrats for not going left enough fast enough, and switch to an electoral strategy that will eventually lead to socialists getting elected; instead of an electoral strategy that helps elect fasicst theocrats.

But we’re running out of time, and they show no signs of clue-getting.

  • Nearly all candidates/politicians champion only the ideas that they think the majority of the public wants. Those who want Obama to be more to the left must first convince their neighbors that this is what they want, and they must convince theirs…. Until the left can win this war of ideas, even candidates that start out lefty will drift away.

The left is losing the ideas war because, although it is very clear on what it doesn’t like and why, it is not so good at explaining the better alternatives. Without the latter, the neighbors adopt “yes, it’s bad, but there is no better alternative” attitudes, and then vote for the right. The left is failing at explaining what the better alternatives are — when is the last time Ted’s ‘toon championed a left idea rather than bashing a right-wing idea?

  • Right-wingers are right when they say Obama is a Keynesian!

  • Brilliant, Ted ! If I enjoyed the franchise in the United States, I, too, would vote for that Kenyan-born, Alinsky-loving, radical socialist – but then again, leaving aside Constitutional restrictions on where US presidents may be born, an Alinsky-loving, radical socialist would hardly find him or herself on the ballot of a so-called «major» party, i e, one permitted by the country’s ruler to provide the US president….

  • I will vote for Obama for the same reason I voted for Frothy in the Michigan primary…because I like watching conservatives squirm with rage…it soothes and pleases me. Neither candidate will fix the underlying problems this country faces, how could they? So in the end, the only thing that will matter is whether my right wing friends shut the hell up. I vote for Obama for the same reason I root against UNC in college basketball…I just want people to STFU. Events are out of our hands at this point.

Ted, move to the country…get a goat.

  • Bucephalus, that is a hilarious comment. Thank you for that! It’s reminds me of the lady who had two women move into an apartment next door…she thought they might be Lebanese.
