After killing 3,500 Iranians and 13 Americans, while costing billions of dollars and America’s global credibility, Donald Trump settled his joint war with Israel against Iran with an arrangement that left Iran infinitely stronger and the United States with, at most, exactly what it had before: an open Strait of Hormuz.

My kingdom for an addled Biden with a strong staff.
The only thing “settled” in Trump’s recent decisive contribution to the demise of the ‘Murcan Empire is that 60-days of “talks” have begun on Iran’s 14 points of discussion. This is essentially the list of conditions for US surrender after the spectacular humiliation the it has experienced in its second failed military attack on Iran within 8+ months … each attack commenced during purported peace negotiations.
As confirmed by Trump, this is merely a ploy to obtain a cease fire and hoped-for resumption of oil trade through the Strait of Hormuz. This is not so much to avoid the looming global economic collapse insured by his bungled attempt at pay-back to Zionist campaign donors (and policy managers) but, rather, to avoid domestic consequences if nothing is done about his revelation of only four weeks of oil remaining in the national strategic oil reserve.
So while there looms 1) domestic discontent over climbing gas prices 2) severely diminished political and financial capital harvest from the US 250th birthday party hoopla and 3) mid-term election disaster …. the US simply does NEITHER negotiation nor peace.
Thus it is highly doubtful that anything useful will emerge from the meeting of pure mendacity underway in Switzerland. Note the reported first issue is how the US and Iran can throttle Israel in its unabated Gazafication of Lebanon so that Iran will open Hormuz. This is indeed a delicate sub-project already “assisted” by Trump’s threats tweeted from afar.
Let the cavalcade of chaos commence.
