There Isn’t That Much Difference between Democrats and Republicans

One of the biggest stories to come out of the COVID-19 crisis has been the tremendous Black Lives Matter movement. At a time when racist policing and violence by police is front and center, it’s a little odd to see Democratic candidates for president and vice president be the person who wrote a controversial crime bill that contributed to mass incarceration and an aggressive prosecutor who sent innocent man to death row.

    I very much wonder.
The “black” voter is not a monolith. That is, it’s overly simplistic (i.e., msmthink) to assume that all blacks vote one way. So how much of an asset is Kamala Harris? Is she going to deliver the Southern Rust Belt states? I don’t think so. The majority of the black population (58% says wikipedia) are in 10 states: Texas, Georgia, Florida, New York, North Carolina, California, Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, and Louisiana. Clinton only captured the sure things; the black vote had a marginal (at best) effect in the end for the 2016 election.
And, um, Biden, despite every screw up Trump has committed, still has only a 73% chance of winning.
I think quite a few black voters (and the whites, the Latinos, the Asians, the left-handed badminton players who think Oswald had help, etc.) are going to see Harris for just what she is: a full-on centrist who has a pretty questionable record.
But the most important thing to keep in mind? NONE OF THIS would have happened if Hillary Clinton hadn’t tampered with the democratic primary in 2016 to cheat Bernie Sanders out of his fair shot at the candidacy. As all the polls showed, Sanders would have beaten Trump. This is all the fault of Hillary Clinton and her bought lapdogs at the dnc and the microcephalic, morally stunted twerps of the mainstream media who eat up all her nonsense because they never got out of high school emotionally and desperately want to be with the cool kids at lunch.

  • Odd, Ted ? Not at all, just business as usual….

    Henri

    • Right Henri.

It must seem odd to the people who get everything they know about the candidates from the candidate’s own ad agency’s marketing people.

From the naivete the Democrat electorate displays it wouldn’t seem out of place for them to break down in tears on being informed that there is no Santa Claus.

  • The right wing attacks Harris with: ‘She’s a Ho.’ ‘She’s an ultra-leftist Green New Dealer.’ ‘She’s not eligible because she’s not American.’ All lies, outrageous lies, so the Democrats say every single criticism of Harris is a complete and utter lie. Darrin Bell wrote that he’d like to criticise Harris, but he can’t after all the idiotic right-wing attacks that are all lies.
The right wing has a problem. If she gaoled lots of African-Americans with lies and withholding exculpatory evidence, they love that and can’t complain, so they have to make up complete fabrications to complain about.

    • Good observation, michaelwme.

I’ve read that Trump received more votes from women than from men in 2016.

If this is true, Harris might be successful in gaining some of the racist White Feminist Trump voters for Biden.
