Given the logic of sanctions, it’s unsurprising that they hardly ever prove effective. A large country like the U.S. imposes economic misery on a country’s inhabitants in the hope that they, rather than hate the U.S., will blame their own government and then overthrow it, thus doing what the U.S. wants.

Excellent. Thanks.
“US sanctions” not approved by the UN, which is almost all of them, are technically illegal under intnernational law. But, since there’s nobody powerful enough to enforce international law violations by the US, our government can get away with it. Some day, sooner than we think, those “drone attacks on the Hamptons” and other clear signs of the fall of the US will start occurring, and change will come.
