For as long as anyone can remember, the United States government has wallowed in fear mongering. Now there’s actually a real legitimate threat to the national health, and many people, especially the young, aren’t listening to warnings.

A question I haven’t seen covered in the rest of the media (And let’s face it, Ted’s is one of the few sites where you can ask questions without fear of being censored by the pecksniffs.) is that of manifestation. With a snowstorm or a hurricane, you know by looking out a window (there goes a tree, fiddly-dee-dee the snow’s up to the top of the window and I can’t look out any more).
When/by what means will the severity of the coronavirus be made evident to the majority, and have I missed it or has the media simply not bothered pointing that out? “Ladies and gentlemen, everything looks okay right now, but within two or three weeks the bodies will be choking the rivers.”
Right now, in my portion of New York, the only signs of anything amiss are due to the warnings being broadcast. The supermarket shelves that are empty? Because everyone is being told how severe this is going to get. The masks? DItto. The gloves. Yup. Social distancing. Uh-huh.
How will it finally become evident that we are ass-deep in a fire?
We only know gravity by the falling of bodies under its influence.
People ask what gravity is but only receive descriptions of how bodies fall in a gravitational field.
We only know what gravity is by measurements and mathematical metaphors.
Likewise, we can only know covid19 by the gravity of its falling bodies.
Some will have to go where the bodies are to sense the gravity of the situation.
Some never will.

The people who make it out of crowded nightclubs unharmed are the ones who smell smoke and say, “Get up. We’re leaving. Right now.”
By the time we start seeing the bodies (they–you know, “they”–will hide them from our vision for as long as possible) it will be too late.
