Voters are being told that Joe Biden would bring in a restoration of normalcy that existed before Donald Trump. But what’s normal about a guy who is this old becoming president?
So Much for a Return to Normal under Joe Biden

One «the» too many in that oath of office, Ted – but on the other hand, I doubt that either Mr Roberts or Mr Biden will notice…. 😉

The more I watch how this is all shaping up, the more I become convinced that, um, Biden will manage one of the most singularly improbable events in American political history by losing to Donald Trump in 2020. It’ll be close, but I really think Biden can plummet to the level of total inadequacy, ineptitude, and general stupidity that Hillary Clinton mastered back in 2016 when she couldn’t even stick the landing on the election she rigged.
Just a few checkpoints left along the way. The veep Biden’s owners will select (probably Kamala Harris) will drag him down a little. Then the second wave of coronavirus may turn out to be far less severe than anticipated (which will let Trump shriek about how the dems took out his beautiful perfect economy just to get at him). Third, of course, is that a whole lot of people are going be sleeping on the streets in three months — evictions, end of unemployment, etc.
I could go on, but I do tend to run long on these messages, and I am working on that. …
This is about who Biden will hire. Say what you will about Reagan, but he was bat-shit senile for the last years of his term. He had such a capable bunch propping him up few people noticed and even fewer cared.
Reagan wasn’t obviously mentally unfit when he ran in 1980.
I get the technical/literal part of what you’re saying. But I think that you’re on a pretty thin reed asserting that Reagan wasn’t obviously mentally unfit when he ran in 1980. The New York Times ran an article on it. Google: magazine interview reagan armageddon for the details.
The Great Communicator wouldn’t have been foiled by no stinking Great Moderator. Curse you, Word Press!
Frankly, Alex, these fantasies strike me as far closer to the views of Mr Trump’s acolytes – not least the Michael Richards Pompeo and Pence – than to those held by Mr Reagan’s consiglieri….

Ahhh, normal, truly a kinder, gentler, much easier to ignore … depravity.
Two things:
1. That, um, Biden is old is not the issue, at least not in my mind. It’s that he shows signs of dementia/senility/advanced fogeyness. If Reagan had been a vibrant 35, I’d still have said he was out of his mind, and tracking dirt all across the Constitution.
2. I see that Bill Clinton isn’t in the crowd of mourners/witnesses. I suspect that’s a pretty good bet, as he’s probably one of the politicians Ghislaine Maxwell has on tape. I wonder, where can a Clinton flee to?
