President Trump is facing backlash, even within his own party, for his plan to establish a $1.8 billion slush fund funded by U.S. taxpayers to compensate his political allies, including January 6 Capitol rioters. Government largesse and welfare are OK when you’re the beneficiary!

Again, you don’t have to like Trump, but you have to admire how he has the opposition running around like a bunch of idiots.
Some doofus contractor leaked the president’s tax returns. (And what did they reveal? Oh, right, that thing that completely didn’t matter one little bit.) Trump files suit against the IRS for a ridiculous amount and demands that he be given immunity from any further audits for past returns. THEN he “compromises” by coming down from $10 billion for himself to $1.776 billion for a “fund” for people who were attacked by the legal system. (Note that the concept of how so many people for decades and decades have genuinely been shafted by the system and never seen a dime has assiduously NOT been brought up by the media.)
So, what do his opponents torpedo? Not the “no more audits.” They wipe out the part that would have given people checks. So … Trump gets what he was really after — at his age, no future audit will reach him sufficiently to incovenience his golf game before he’s dead or so old as to be untouchable — and the optics of the thing are that a bunch of people are furious that they aren’t getting a payday because some democrat elites stopped it.
I wonder if Trump’s cause of death will be “massive boredom.” It’s not even hard to outwit the opposition.
