The Supreme Court overturning of the abortion rights decision Roe v. Wade has many activists wondering how abortion and other rights that are being taken away can be restored. The answer is through hard, prolonged, difficult, self-sacrificing work that most people on what passes for the American Left are unwilling to undertake.

I guess I’ll mention Stefan Zweig. Right as Hitler was coming up in the world, Zweig was warning all his Jewish friends to pay attention, that this guy was dangerous. “Get your travel documents in order. Be ready to leave at any moment.” And some of them, just to get him off their backs, did it. They were the ones who were able to escape.
I strongly suspect that protesting, even if it was done correctly, wouldn’t matter at this point. The elections are in about 14 weeks. Biden hasn’t got a prayer. His presidency ends right after Rachel Maddow manages to wipe the smirk off her face when she sees what’s on the teleprompter. 2024 will be worse. And 2026 will probably hand the QAnon-laden Senate enough Republicans to pass amendments.
