Democrats say they have a plan to restore abortion rights and enact gun control: make gains in the 2022 midterm elections. But there’s absolutely no reason to believe that that anything more than a pipe dream. To the contrary, Republicans will probably control both houses next year.

Compare with the Republican plan. For the midterms: gain procedural control of the Senate and House. Completely shut down the Biden presidency. Begin investigations into Hillary Clinton, Hunter Biden, Joseph Biden, Nancy Pelosi’s husband. Repudiate the “partisan witch hunt” of the January 6 investigations.
2024? Re-elect Trump (or DeSantis). Gain 60 seat majority in Senate. Continue decades-long sabotage of voting process. Gain two-thirds majority in Senate by midterms 2026. Criminalize all abortions. Outlaw gay marriage. Forced prayer in all public (but not private, of course) schools.
Frankly, the one thing I can get behind the Jan. 6ers is that I, too, think the democrats should be put on trial. Pretty much all of them. Start with the dnc leadership.
