Yes, Trump has perfected the art of this. Kissinger did too. As I recall, he managed to kill irony by being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. But, really, casting back through imperfect memory, hasn’t every single solitary American presidency, at least in modern times, talked peace but murdered willy-nilly?
I truly truly wonder: If Trump had simply been more polished, more … Clintonian, would we all just be “Meh, another Republican presidency. Oh well”?
