The Trump Administration’s tactic is to brazenly violate the law and the Constitution, doing what it wants until the courts inevitably intervene. But even when the judicial branch steps in, more often than not, they follow their condemnation of the administration’s actions with a stay that suspends their decision to allow the government to come up with a justification for what they’re doing while allowing them to keep right on doing it.

The Constitution of the US of A makes it very clear: only the Congress has the power to wage war or raise taxes.
But the Congress voted that, since it is their power and their right, they can convey those rights to whomever they wish, and they wish to bestow those rights to the President of the US of A: modern war is too quick, there’s no time for a vote when nuclear missiles are already on the way, and this taxing business is too complicated for the Congress, sometimes the president has to act unilaterally.
A district judge and an appeals judge said Congress cannot give the power to tax to the president, they must have a vote on it. The President appealed, and the Appeals Court ruled against him but delayed their order taking effect for a month so their decision can be reviewed by the Supreme Court.
So what’s your point? One aspect of the bureaucracy ruled that another aspect of the bureaucracy needs to file the proper paperwork to rubber stamp whatever the President wants? Viva La Resistance!!
Government has gotten so big that political parties can weaponize just about any position or regulation
I wonder how we got here. Who is the party of big government again? Hmm I’m stumped oh well no answer to that question
Both parties want big government. The decision is between tax-and-spend Democrats or borrow-and-spend Republicans.
Big government funded the basic science that led to COVID-19 vaccines, saving millions of lives in the USA. Using the usual government valuation of about $10M per life saved that’s tens of trillions of dollars of value. If we can beat climate destruction, it will be in large part because of the massive efforts by big government. That the poorest among us in the USA are doing so much better than those in third-world countries is due to big government. Yes, I know it should be even more and we should be unrelenting in pushing for that … but, on the whole, big government has been a net win.
Okay, this war crap is a major downside of our big government. That’s a huge negative. But let’s mend big government, not end it.
