How Do You Take Your Evil?

Say what you want about Donald Trump, but at least he provides a sort of truth in advertising: he has an obnoxious style that reflects his obnoxious policies. What makes someone like Hillary Clinton (or Barack Obama) particularly insidious is that they come packaged in a respectable format, yet espouse despicable policies.

  • On the rocks ?…

    • That makes sense, especially with the gin in the last panel. šŸ˜€

      • Dammit!

I just checked the stats for Arkansas today and saw that Trump is ahead of Clinton by 20% (at least) in the polls. That means that my single vote for Stein will do nothing except assure me that I adhered to my convictions by NOT voting for one of two evils. šŸ™

    • I’ll take a pass on d’ evil spirits.

Give me a cool Stein instead.

      • boo. Hissssss. (for *both* puns, although I am voting for Jill)

      • I keep saying I agree with Mr Rall: given the choice of Trump or Billary, I’d vote for a mug of beer before I’d vote for either one of them.

  • USA TODAY’s Editorial Board: Trump is ‘unfit for the presidency’

A halfway measure, in my opinion, without a similar indictment of Hillary.

  • I have a very slight problem with those who agree Secretary Clinton is flawed, but Trump is worse, a problem captured in today’s cartoon: Trump insults brown people, President Clinton has and will kill them. Secretary Clinton has said we cannot trust Trump with ‘The Button,’ by which I assume she means he won’t know how to use it. She’s promised to liberate Syria and Russia from their evil dictators, with the implied threat of a preemptive EMP strike that will completely disable Russia’s retaliatory capacity. What could go wrong?

And then there are the Clintonbots (including most readers of the New York Times) that Secretary Clinton is, by far, the best candidate for president the US has had since George (Hanover). She is absolutely flawless: every so-called ‘flaw’ is a lie by the right wing nut jobs. A post on gocomics said that, as an expert in security, Baslim could assure us all that Secretary Clinton had followed all security protocols perfectly, and the FBI was very careless to say that Secretary Clinton had ever been the least bit careless. No one could possibly have handled those official e-mails better than she did, she did everything perfectly.

Baslim couldn’t possibly know what is claimed, but will say that anyone who challenges his/her/its analysis is a proven liar. Other Clintonbots on gocomics thanked Baslim for such perceptive analysis.

    • Pleased to see I’m not the only one here who weighs actions heavier than words. It should be self-evident that Trump making negative statements about people–even if you disapprove–is not as bad as actually killing them. As others have said here, no one can be sure what President Trump would do, but we have a long political record that shows exactly what Madame President Clinton would do.

      • Fair enough. Trump’s actions involve lying, cheating, stealing, swindling, embezzling, and ignoring inconvenient truths in favor of profits. His past behavior is a good indicator of how he would behave in the oval office.

He’s never been in a position where he could kill anyone he wanted “legally”. We do know he has a quick temper and a generally low opinion of anyone who is not himself.

Hillary may push that button, but if so she will at least pause to think through the possible repercussions beforehand. That’s not exactly a strong suit for Hair Furor mit dem kleinen Schwanzstucker.

      • The problem with Hillary pausing to think it through is that we already know–as Michael reminds us–that she has put a great deal of thought into her plan to annihilate Syria and antogonize Russia. The thinking doesn’t seem to help.

      • Ā«It should be self-evident that Trump making negative statements about peopleā€“even if you disapproveā€“is not as bad as actually killing them.Ā» Well, I never – Ā«Jack HeartĀ» arguing against killing people ! Shows how dangerous participating on fora like Ted’s can be ; who know, in some years – if any of us survive – our Ā«Jack HeartĀ» may be arguing against the US imperial role in the world or for restricting so-called Ā«gun rightsĀ» !….

I must be the only one who watches Columbo. …

In every Columbo episode, the last 10 or so minutes is Columbo’s very careful “gotcha” of the murderer. And it’s always the exact same thing — and always great to watch — a step by step destruction of the (almost) foolproof alibi. I think Trump has something on Hillary. Maybe he has proof Chelsea isn’t Bill’s daughter. Maybe he’s got Zapruder film footage showing Hillary leaning over the grassy knoll’s fence. I don’t know. But this is not a guy who is nervous. He either has the best set of gambler’s nerves ever or he has the “Oh, one more thing” all lined up and ready to go.

October is going to be a very interesting month. …

And lookit! Trump’s taxes are leaked. How do you like that? Apparently, the system of taxation allowed him to LEGALLY write off 16 million dollars in losses.

And which candidate, who has been in power or right up against power for 40 years, let that happen? Why, bless my soul, that’d be Hillary “I’m in your corner” Clinton.

I don’t want to hear jackshit about Trump unless the same person turns to HRC and demands to know why she wasn’t able to close all these loopholes in her decades in Washington. Yes, Trump is a grunting oaf. I expect that. But HRC acts like she’s the only one who can get it done. Then fine, get it done. Show me some proof she’s done anything that hasn’t lined her pockets or given he greater power (which she doesn’t use to get anything done).

      • Your take is exactly my take on the Trump non-payment of taxes, Alex.

Big money pays the government so it doesn’t have to pay much bigger taxes.

Corporations have a fiduciary responsibility under penalty of law to maximize profits by minimizing wages and taxes paid.

It is because of bribes (a.k.a, campaign donations) to government insiders that what Trump did is legal.

I hope Hillary takes a hit from Trump on the big money donations that were intended to rebuild housing in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake that left so many people in makeshift shelters while their cronies took millions.

Many thousands are likely to be killed in Haiti by hurricane Matthew due to Clinton corruption.
